Hollywood hearthrob George Clooney was chosen as the UN's latest Messenger of Peace, UN spokeswoman Michele Montas said.

Clooney was recognized for his passionate advocate for an end to war and famine in Sudan's Darfur regim and his tireless efforts to focus public attention to international political social issues.
