Hollywood Icon Elizabeth Taylor Laid To Rest Beside Close Friend Jackson

Screen icon Elizabeth Taylor, 79, was buried on Thursday at the forest lawn cemetery in Glendale, in the Los Angeles area, the same place where her close friend Michael Jackson was buried in 2009.

The service started 15 minutes late as scheduled per the late actress request. Her spokeswoman said in the statement that Taylor wanted the service to include the announcement: “She even wanted to be late to her own funeral.”

The small private funeral service was attended by family and close friends. A reading of Gerard Manley Hopkins poem “ The Leaden Echo and the Golden Echo” by actor Colin Farrell, another friend of Taylor. Other poems were read by son Michael Wilding and daughter Liza Boston Tivey. Her grandson, Rhys Tivey performed “Amazing Grace” on a trumpet.

The service lasted about one hour and her coffin was interred at Forest Lawn’s Great Mausoleum beneath a marble angel.
